Tax Liens Sales

What kind of title do you get at a tax deed sale in texas. What are the states that you get the actual title?

I am familiar with florida tax deeds, but I am curious about other states that allow you to actually own the house without having to wait two years so the previous owners have a redemption period. Any advice/comments would be great. Thanks

  1. Here is what one county in Texas says: Travis County Tax sales information: http://www.co.travis.tx.us/tax_assessor/foreclosure/tax_sales.asp Every state is different when it comes to tax sales. Buena Suerte
  2. if you buy a house in ny state at a city or county auction for taxes the previous owners do not have any rights to the property once you recieve the deed. As far as deed sales, I dont believe you ever get any title for any property that you buy unless you get a mortgage or you make provisions at purchase. A title is something you would have to pay for. There would not be any title on file at your county clerks offices only a recorded deed.
  3. Texas actually has two redemption periods, for properties to enter the tax deed process, the redemption period can be as soon as one year (for non-homestead) but could be up to 2 years (homestead). However, after a property is sold at a tax deed sale, the owner still gets 6-months to redeem the property before you can obtain clear title. Colorado, Georgia, California, Minnesota, and others have tax deed sales as well.
